"Getting on the Stick"

What exactly does the phrase "get on the stick" mean? I grew up hearing my dad say it and though I don't say it (since I think its weird!) sometimes the saying comes to mind. It came to mind today since I need to "get a move on" and start getting things ready for Valentines/February in SWF. A good place to start is looking through one of my favorite magazines Scrapbooks Etc.

  2. lol yeah, it always makes me wonder where some of these sayings come from?? I mean, come on, how does "get on the stick" really mean "get a move on" or "get it together"?? I feel your pain!

  3. Maybe it's for people who hesitate learning to drive a "stick"? Maybe at one point they just need to get over the fear and "get on it"? What the heck? I don't know. Just something else for me to Google now. Lol!
